You: Is it Worth a Watch?

On September 9, 2018, Netflix released Season 1 of You starring Penn Badgley, Elizabeth Lail, and later Victoria Pedretti for Season 2. This show is a crime drama, thriller based on the main character, Joe.

“What would you do for love?” For a brilliant male bookstore manager who crosses paths with an aspiring female writer, this question is put to the test. A charming yet awkward crush becomes something even more sinister when the writer becomes the manager’s obsession. Using social media and the internet, he uses every tool at his disposal to become close to her, even going so far as to remove any obstacle –including people — that stands in his way of getting to her.

It captivates audiences from the various twists and turns of Joe’s mind and sheer determination to get that girl. It it very well written and never becomes too slow or “boring.” It taps into the mind of a sociopath and uses humor in some situation to lighten the mood. The seasons follow Joe and his toxic obsession of becoming quickly infatuated with certain women he sees. I personally loved this show, from Season 1 through Season 2 the plot twists, and absolutely insane Joe kept me interested and watching. It brings the audience on a roller coaster ride of emotions from surprised to afraid. The actors brought another level to the show, really playing the characters well and bringing the emotional part to the show.

I highly recommend this show to anyone who likes crime dramas and thrillers, as I, along with many others, have binged watched the show in a few days.
